South Florida Cities Among Top 100

Coral Springs - #27
Boca Raton - #30
Pembroke Pines - #51
Miramar - #81

If you live in any one of these cities, congratulate yourself. You live in the top 100 best cities acccording to Money Magazine. These were the only 4 cities in the entire state of Florida to make the top 100.

You see, it's not as bad here as it seems.

These types of lists do have quite a bit of subjectivity, of course. My own community, Kendale Lakes, although it didn't make the top 100, actually rated closely in most categories with Miramar and Pembroke Pines. Even if your location isn't in the top 100, don't feel bad. It's all about location, right?

Read the Herald's story on this here.

Surprisingly enough, I couldn't find anything from the Sun-Sentinel.

I looked but I couldn't find what criteria they were using.

Rick - They used different criteria such as housing, education, weather, access to libraries, etc. If you follow the "Kendale Lakes" link, you'll see the breakdown. As far as how they used the numbers to rank, I guess Money must have a mathematical formula that crunches the numbers.

Mish - The Kendale Lakes area (which includes the Calusa/Crossings area) is still pretty good in my opinion. Schools consistently rate above the state average and the neighborhoods are genreally well-kept. There are a few isolated pockets of slightly run-down places (usually older apt complexes), but you can find those in Miramar and Pembroke Pines too, and they made the list.

George - Don't worry. Hialeah is #1 in one category...most Cuban city in the U.S.

Val - the fact that ManCamp is within a few miles of Kendale Lakes should have put them over the top!

That place was so nice in the 80's when I grew up there...at the country club you could swim in the lake and there were trees...since I've been back they took away don carters (moved to Hollywood in '05)...I was like what..Chipotle and Starbucks now? It's funny because they have a strip mall in Plantation that's just like that. RIP Don Carter's
